Caspar Nieuwland

3D artist

Hey! I am Caspar and I am 19 years old. I just finished my study Visual Design at Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam. I specialise in 3D artwork.I really enjoy working in 3D and creating cool looking visuals. I have experience in Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Unity, Unreal Engine, Substance Painter. I love making realistic looking renders but I also enjoy making stylized and minimalistic scenesI work on 3D alot in my spare time. Besides that, I enjoy playing games, listening to music and being around friends.

Cinematic lighting study

I enjoy creating realistic scenes and lighting is a big part in what makes something look realistic. Therefor when I heard that Gleb Alexandrov would upload chapter one of his Cinamatic Lighting course on youtube, I was thrilled to follow along!I made this render after watching all parts and I tried to use the tips and tricks I learned during the course

Disappearing floor

If the video says its unavailable, try reloading the page and it should be fixed!I love creating VFX, it is always something I liked doing. I motioned tracked lots of blender monkeys on pieces of paper already, but this was never really something fancy. I wanted to do like in the movies. I already tried this multiple times but failed, but always keep returning to it. So here I went!I started by making a few videos at first to try and get an idea of what I wanted to make since my brain was empty. After having a nice 1.5 hour walk I got a few realistic ideas and some inspiration. One was looking down some sort of winner stage and seeing eyes in a dark tunnel leading downwards and the other was a hallway that was revealed after a tile dropped down. I choose the second one since the motiontrack of the podium failed.

Overgrown Hall

This project all started when I saw a video of a liminal space. I got inspired and wanted to try to create a liminal space of my own.I started searching for some inspiration and quickly got an idea of an office hallway with plants. You might say that this isn't a liminal space anymore when you add plants and to that I'd say: "yes, yes your right". I knew this quite early on, but I decided it would be more interesting this way and continued. Most of the assets have not been hand made in this scene. These are the assets I used: Ivy generator and Botaniq

Retopoligzed scan

If the video says its unavailable, try reloading the page and it should be fixed!I've 3d scanned some models in the past and I knew how many vertices a scan could have. I wanted to try and retopoligze something and make it game ready.I decided to make a quick tree scan and attempt to retopoligze this mesh. The scan had about 2.1 million vertices and I asked my teacher for a good goal for many polies it was allowed to have. He told me too go for a MAX of 1.2 thousand. In the end the retopoligzed version contained about 638 faces and 1 tri.
